RE : Drainage Problem - S01 Griffin Road
Steve Groves passed on the enclosed pictures with a verbal complaint from
Mr . Carl Piacentine, 501 Griffin Road.
Russ checked this location and the following is what he found and what I
have found in the Street Services files.
This drainage problem exists in an area that is on the top of a hill and
is very flat. There is a catch basin just east of the driveway and off
the travel way . The basin has no outlet. There are several lengths of
slotted pipe bedded in the stone directed southerly in a 50 ft. easement
acting as a dry well .
During spring, summer and fall this functions well except during prolonged
rain or extreme downpours . However , during the winter frost heave and
slush build up, preventing water from entering the basin.
This is a long standing problem and has gone through three home owners
since 1978 .
The grades are so critical that the usefulness of a dry well system is
suspect. An engineering study should be made to determine a futuie course
of action. My recollection isthat there is a gas line along thef
southerly edge of pavement and that is why the basin is back from ',the
road .
Please see if you can come up with a long term solution that can be used
to correct this problem.

RE : DRAINAGE COMPLAINT/50 GRIFFIN ROAD
The drainage complaint referred to me through your office by Mr.
Frank Enes , 501 Griffin Road, has been investigated.
Apparently, during rainstorms , water builds up along the south
gutter of the road to a point where it then runs down the
driveway of the subject property. There is an existing dry well
catch basin immediately west of the property in question.
However, the grade of the road is such that run-off cannot reach
the catch basin.
As soon as the bituminous asphalt plants open this Spring, we
will excavate, reshape, and repave the gutter to direct run-off
to the structure. This should solve the problem.
