Fa ` Dan Roulier Dan Roulier Associates Builder—Green Lane 11 South Road Somers CT 06071 This is to alert you to a serious problem in the roadway and drainage basins on Green Lane. The drainage basin across the street from my driveway on 17 Green Lane (lot 2) has caved in very seriously. The cave in is increasing with every rainfall. The current depth is approximately 4 -5 feet and the cave in has now spread and increased to about 6 - 8 feet into the road from the curb. The washout is now undermining the roadway and the surface of the road is supported by only a fragment of asphalt. This is a serious safety hazard to children who might be tempted to play in this developing cave and motorists and anyone else who might drive by, pass by or park in the area, Emergency temporary repairs must be considered. s r When I spoke earlier this week with people in Town Hall(Public Works, Engineering, etc)I was told that this is not a problem for the town of South Windsor. They told me that they do not accept this as their problem although they are well aware that the problem exists. They told me that the problem belongs to Bob Urso since the town has not accepted the road and Bob Urso has not completed the street. When I spoke with Bob he said that there a number of drainage basins that must be replaced and he expects that the work will be done within 2 to 3 weeks. That is good to hear but I believe that the road work was supposed to be done last year(2003)based on information provide by both Bob Urso and the Town of South Windsor. I am afraid that the situation that exists today is very precarious and if we have another rainfall the danger will increase and the entire street could be come impassable. If it gets much worse there is a significant chance that a fire truck or ambulance could not go down the street. Meanwhile,we pay very significant sums of money in taxes to the town of South Windsor(who both requires us to pay taxes and accepts our money regardless of the status of the approval of Green Lane). I urge all of you to drive over to Green Lane and check out this hazard. Please be careful in so doing! Thanks Jeff Browe
