MEMORANDUM March March 25, 1991

RE: Gerber Road West
In February we trimmed both sides of Gerber Road West to improve the sight
line. We also trimmed all branches protruding beyond the curb line.
In doing so a hole was opened up between Gerber Road and the residents on
Diane Drive.
It is my understanding that a line of trees was planted between Diane
Drive and Gerber West when the road was built to act as a buffer between
Gerber Scientific and Diane Drive.
Unfortunately, a poor species of tree was selected. The tree grew into
the travel part of Gerber West and had to be trimmed back to the curb
line.
To solve our problem, I propose we remove 20 White Pines and plant 20
Arborvitae to be the buffer. Arborvitae will not encroach into the travel
lane.
We solicited quotes from local landscapers to remove the stumps and supply
and plant the Arborvitae.
The quotes are as follows:
Kasheta Farms $5,820. 00
Walmark Inc. 4,050. 00
Pleasant Valley Landscape 3,400. 00
Jay Landscape 3,094. 80
Phils Tree and Landscape 2,375,00
We also got quotes on cutting down the trees, they are as follows.-
New England Tree Experts $1 ,200. 00
Phils Tree and Landscape 825. 00

I recommend we have Phils Tree and Landscape do both jobs.
