Dear Carl:
In response to your request, a visit was made to the Timothy Edwards School located in South
Windsor, Connecticut to review the remedial work provided at the perimeter pier support system of
the newly installed modular classroom units.
From our observations of the exposed and accessible areas we have the following comments:
1. The area of concern is the perimeter pier locations where the modular unit support piers were
placed in such a manner that the modular unit construction overhung the exterior pier a
maximum of four(4") inches beyond the face of concrete pier.
2. The reviewed remedial supports consisted of a ten inch deep structural steel channel (C 1 Ox 15.3)
welded to the underside of the extended modular unit assembly frame and bolted to the concrete
footing below.
Based upon our observations,we believe, to the best of our knowledge, that this remedial work was
in conformance with our recommendations and should provide adequate capacity to sustain all
anticipated loads .
