The subject lot has approximately 4 feet of sandfill over a silty soil with traces of organic material near the surface. The sand was checked for compaction and it was adequate (95+% at three locations in the front of the buildingl . At the rear of the house, the excavation is close to natural ground. Several root sections and a small tree trunk should be removed from the footing excavation. The excavation should be scraped clear prior to placement of concrete. If the above work is completed, the soil will sustain the proposed house foundation.
