Nelson Co. calculates heat losses. Our figures are based on the widely accepted IBR Modern Method , as published by The Hydronics Institute of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. We make every effort to insure the accuracy of our heat losses. However, the end result cannot be correct if the information provided is not accurate. It is the responsibility of the -customer to supply us with the data needed and to insure that it properly reflects the actual conditions in the building concerned. Whenever possible , we will be happy to send a representative out to visit a job with a heating customer to assist him in evaluating a building. The importance of communicating the actual construction features of a building cannot be stressed enough. For example , from our present understanding of building codes new construction requires 3k" of insulation (or equvivalent) in exposed walls, 6" in ceilings, 31" in exposed floors, either storm or thermopane windows, and a design temperature difference of 70 degrees. Local codes or individual builders may not conform to this however. It is the responsibility of the heating contractor to provide us with the proper construc- tion features, the correct dimensional data, and any special local requirements they must conform to.
