A visit was made to the site to evaluate site status. 2. The contractor has completed excavation for most of the pier and wall footings on the east wall. The condition of soil bearing is excellent. The contractor indicated that footing forms and reinforcing will be installed this afternoon and he intends to pour the footings for this portion of the building tomorrow. 3. It was observed that gravel fill material has been placed and compacted at the northwest corner of the building to fill the void created by removal of deleterious material. Visual observation of the installed material showed that it appears excellent and well placed and compacted. 4. It was observed that the wall footing for the column at the northeast corner of the building will be located approximately 1' off the corner of the existing modular bank building. This will require that the sidewalk entry to the bank be temporarily closed for several days to allow the contractor to install the footing, backfill the foundation and reinstall the sidewalk. Richard Ryan was notified of this condition and will coordinate a temporary access to the bank through the front entrance during this period. cc: Joseph Jeamel, - SBR John Collins — Building Official Leo R. A visit was made to the site to evaluate status. 2. The contractor has satisfactorily installed column footings and wall footings on the easterly wall from column B4 to column C 14. Soil bearing of this area is excellent and quality of the concrete appears excellent. It was observed that reinforcing has been placed satisfactorily in the formwork and that dowels are projecting above the footings where required. 3. The contractor has installed column footings and wall footings on the southerly wall from column C14 to column K11. Condition of formwork, soil bearing, concrete and reinforcing is satisfactory. 4. Contractor has excavated for footings on the northerly wall. At the easterly end of the northerly wall the virgin soil is acceptable for soil bearing and footings will be installed directly thereon. Near the center of the wall deleterious material was found and has been removed to a slightly greater depth down to the northwesterly corner of the building. The contractor has removed the poor material, installed fabric membrane and %)) stone base to stabilize the condition. He is currently in the process of installing controlled compacted fill material in this area to receive the footings. Observation of the condition and the process indicates that everything is satisfactory at this time. 5. The contractor has indicated that he will coordinate the installation of column footing A4 with the bank shutdown over the weekend period to minimize customer interference. cc: Joseph Jeamel - SBR John Collins--Building Official Leo R. STEEL CONCR. ❑-STEEL 0-MASONRY X-Lt Ga. Framing INSPECTOR:Robert M. Dawson, III LOCATION: X-SITE ❑ Present: Robert M. Dawson-Russell&Dawson Michael Garneau-W. J. Mountford Jim Hackbarth-Light Gauge Metal Subcontractor 1. General inspection was made of project status to date. Structural steel frame is completed, most foundation work has been completed, exterior metal stud walls and sheathing are completed, brick masonry is underway on two sides of the building and light gauge metal framing for roof is partially installed. All work is satisfactory at this time. 2. The contractor will install 4" light gauge steel stud diagonal bracing in the sloped roof areas. The bracing will be installed to a configuration shown on the attached sketch and bracing will be installed a minimum of every 8' on center around the building. See attached condition 1 and 2. 3. At the east and west elevations a small gabled end occurs at the edges of the main roof. Framing for this was discussed and various options considered. The exposed wall at this location measures approximately 14" in height. Following discussion, the contractor agreed to cover this wall with roof flashing from below and a fascia molding similar to that installed on the rest of the building. 4. Several fascia conditions were discussed where valleys and ridges meet around the perimeter of the building. The framing contractor will install the fascia framing at these locations to suit the field conditions such that the overall integrity of the roof framing is maintained. 5. A condition was observed where vertical framing for the interior face of the light gauge metal framing rests on roof decking and not immediately above a structural beam or joist. The contractor will install some small support angles between the adjacent joists or beams. These shall be a minimum of 2 x 2 x 1/" and shall be installed not more than 8' on center. See attached condition 3. 330 ROBERTS STREET,EAST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT 06108-3654 PHONE (860)289-1100 FAX(860)289-3272 Special Inspection Memo The Savings Bank of Rockville Page 2 6. Discussion was held regarding the specific framing and configuration for the roof over the top landing of the stairway which accesses the roof. It was agreed that this roof should have a slight slope back into the roof space and should be framed of light gauge metal and have a membrane roof installed over it with an appropriate cap where fiberglass shingles are installed at the ridge. A detail of this condition is attached to this report. Attachment cc: Joseph Jeamel - SBR John Collins—Building Official Leo R. Desautels - W. J.
