Dear Mr. Mason:
I have reviewed the referenced request for modification of Section 307.4, of the
BOCA National Building Code/1996 portion of the 1999 State Building Code,
which states in part that all buildings and structures which contain materials that
present a deflagration hazard or a hazard from accelerated burning, shall be
classified as Use Group H-2.
It is my decision to approve this modification, as requested, and allow the
installation of an oxygen storage system to be installed in accordance with
NFPA 99, 1999 Edition, with the stipulation that all of the additional safeguards
offered are complied with. This decision is based on the approved language of
the NFPA document.
If you have any questions, please contact Daniel Tierney, Deputy State Building
Inspector at (860) 685-8310.
