Dear Mr. Deptula,
I am concerned about the accumulation of water in the construction site at my
condominium,located off Pleasant Valley Road(Pleasant Meadow). In spite of a wet
spring, water accumulation has been fairly consistent during the past year. (I can
supplement your inspections with dated digital images.) While chemical addition to the
standing water might be an option,I do not think this is particularly safe, since
neighborhood children often frequent the area. Furthermore, I understand town officials'
understanding in assisting development, but I do feel that the present tolerance of the
slow rate of construction is unacceptable, given the site conditions and their impact on
both the appearance of the neighborhood and possible health hazards.
It may be necessary for zoning board officials to review current regulations regarding
these conditions. Possibly, a more vigorous enforcement of current statutes would be
necessary.
In addition to water, weeds have accumulated at nearly all areas of the property,
including those regions landscaped last summer. As far as I can tell,there is no effort at
pest control of any kind.The sole maintenance is infrequent mowing of some grassy
areas and snow plowing in season. The entrance to the property remains an eyesore.
While I realize that the health issue is you main concern,I am also calling these
conditions to the attention of local building officials as well as any other appropriate local
and state agencies.
