Initially,I intend to focus my business on dog grooming and dog daycare and in the future I would also like to offer dog training classes. The dog daycare will be10-15 dogs per day.The large dogs will be separated from the small dogs by a physical barrier i.e. door or gate. The dogs will have a play area and will have two rest periods each day. Each dog will have a crate,in which to rest. There will be no food provided,unless provided by the owner. Several water bowls will be provided. We will require owners to sign a waiver stating that we will not be responsible for animal to animal injuries. We will have a day care attendant that will supervise and play with the dogs.The dogs will be allowed outside separately large dogs and small dogs,in a secure fenced in area. She will also monitor their behavior.The daycare hours will be 7 am.-6 p.m. from Monday through Friday. I will provide the dog grooming services which will include bathing,brushing out hair cutting,ear cleaning,and nail clipping. Shampoo will be provided based on dog history of allergies or skin disorders.This service will be offered between the hours of 9 am.-3 p.m.from Monday through Friday and every other Saturday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. All animal waste will be disposed of daily including dog hair. The interior of facilities will be vacuumed and washed with disinfectant which is a professional strength solution for germ and odor free environment.All wastes will be collected by a licensed refuse hauler periodically. Request for approval of a two-year temporary and conditional permit to operate a dog grooming/dog daycare/dog training business at 1678 Ellington Road, RC zone.. 2. The applicant's letter indicates that initially she will focus on the dog grooming/daycare aspect with the doggie day care facility accommodating 10- 15 dogs per day. The hours of operation for the daycare will be from 7 am— 6 pm. The hours of operation for the grooming services will 9 -3 Monday through Saturday and 9 — 12pm on Saturdays. 3. The only modification to the site is the reduction of the outside fenced in area. 4. The State licenses the facility. Their requirements cover such items as floor covering materials, size of runs, water, lighting, ventilation, temperature, and sanitation. It is required that feces and other excreta be removed at least once a day and runs washed down with hot water and disinfectant cleaner. Excreta must be disposed of in a sanitary manner. The Town Sanitarian has reviewed this application and noted that if weekly dumpster pick-up is not sufficient to minimize potential odor and fly problems, additional pickups may be needed. 5. The animal waste and grooming waste will be disposed of periodically by a licensed refuse hauler. 6. The wording of the T & C permit regulation is that, "Temporary and conditional permits may be granted by the Commission for a period not to exceed two years. Such approval may be given after a Public Hearing if, in the judgment of the Commission, the public convenience and welfare will be substantially served, and the appropriate use of neighboring property will not be substantially or permanently injured, and traffic and other hazards will not result from such use." 4. If this application is approved, the planning department has no modifications to request. There are no engineering comments on the plan.
