The goal is to open a Farm Winery with a production/storage area and a public Tasting Room for the sale of wine by September 2018. Proposed Project: Construct a production/storage area and Tasting Room within an existing post and timber frame barn. The proposed structure would be approximately 27' by 38' and the Tasting Room would be within this structure and measure 18' by 18'. Initially, the Tasting Room would be seasonal (potentially April to December) and open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for limited hours. Even though the goal for the opening is September 2018, the winery would need to be federally licensed before this year's harvest at the end of August. If the federal license is not in place before the harvest, then the crop cannot be used to produce wine that can be sold. Enclosed is an older survey map that shows the location of the post and timber frame barn that would be used for production/storage and a Tasting Room. Only about one-third of the barn would be used and that area is shaded in red. Respectively Submitted, LLC Members: Walter T. Foster Cynthia L. Foster Katherine (Foster) Donatello James E. Donatello BLUE HERON VINEYARD AT FOSTER FARM, LLC FARM WINERY APPLICATION The Foster Family has been continuously involved in farming the property at 90 Foster Street since 1790. Over the years, the family has had to adjust to the changing times to be able to sustain the agricultural use of the land.At present, the farm has seasonal green houses that offer a variety of annuals and perennials beginning in the Spring and going through the Fall with the sale of mums. The annual Corn Maze, operates during September and October and provides families with an entertaining farm experience. This application is to add to the other farm activities by opening a Tasting Room for the sale of wine produced from grapes that have been cultivated on the farm. The Tasting Room would be a seasonal activity to correspond with the Connecticut Wine Trail that runs from Spring through the Fall. Days and hours of operation would also be limited. The proposed hours of operation would be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, except on Sunday, only until 5:00 pm. The Tasting Room and production/storage area are to be located within an existing barn. The southeastern corner of a free stall barn will be converted to accommodate a 272 square foot Tasting Room for the public and a 677 square foot production and storage area for the wine. Parking will be available in the area opposite the Tasting Room. AgGEAgF`URP►- I NOtUct T j VY41 PAN 30) r 7:: gyp►,. 00 l 1t 201 66' 1 P + ROP DTAL £¢N t115 NED 1iN0 D p E C i ' CiyTE ExES TQ s y.tNG LINE L 20 s. 060 201 35go 20` f n ^ ` s69024 E Eh ry dM4VE. 203.69' V ropy ' ` - ftN(s 0!9 p1AO rf .
