Re: 430 Burnham Street
South Windsor, CT
Dear Heather:
Able Equipment is proposing a 60' x 40' addition to their building. The addition
will house an equipment wash rack and some dry inside storage. The wash bay is a self
contained 100%recycled unit that will have no discharge. The unit will be cleaned,
serviced and maintained quarterly by a service provideder.
The present building is on septic and no change in employees or office space is
planned. According to Table 4 of the Septic Design Manual, design flows are, office 200
sq. ft/person x 20 gpd/per person and Industrial building 0.1-gallon/per day gross area.
The existing building is:
364 sq. ft. office—200 x 20 = 40
(10800-368) Sq. ft. x 0.1 = 1043.0
Total 1084 gpd
The new addition:
60' x 40' x 0.1 = 240 gpd
Increase approximately 24%
The proposed additional washroom and storage do not increase the building
sewage design flow more than 25%
The Public Health Code, Building Conversions, Changes in Use, Additions,
effective August 3, 1998, 19-13-B 100A (c) (5) allows up to 50% increase.
We are at half this level and no changes in the septic are proposed. Please call if
you have any questions.
