If you intend to continue the current use at this location you will need to submit a renewal application to the Planning & Zoning Commission. There have been some changes to the process since you last renewed your permit. A copy of the revised section of the Regulations is attached. I have enclosed an application form for your use, as well as the new fee schedule. You will need to display a sign for ten (10) days prior to the meeting, and you must notify your property abutters (adjacQnLQ rope rty owners as well as those across the street) by a certificate of mailing. If you no longer operate this business from this location, please contact the Planning Department so that we can update our files. Major Home Occupation A. Application for 5-year permit shall be made to the Commission and notification of abutters in accordance with Section 8.2.C. A public hearing may be required by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Renewals may be granted by the Commission. At the time of renewal, a sign must be posted per section 8.2.B and a public hearing may be required. The application for home occupation approval shall contain the same items and information required for a minor home occupation. C. Permit Duration 1. Each Certificate of Zoning Compliance for a minor home occupation shall be valid for the duration of the applicant's residence and shall automatically terminate when the applicant no longer resides in the dwelling unit. Commission approval for major home occupations shall be valid for up to 5 years as specified by the Commission, except that approval shall automatically terminate when the applicant no longer resides in the dwelling unit. 2. The Commission may revoke any minor or major home occupation permit for noncompliance with permit requirements and conditions. The applicant has operated this salon from within the existing house since 1996. She currently operates three days a week from 9 —5 PM and there are no changes from her previous application. 2. Several conditions have been placed on the previous approvals: • the business must be operated by the homeowner; • hours of operation will be three (3) days a week from 9-5pm; • no more than two (2) cars in the driveway during business hours; and • refuse from the business can not be disposed of with residential refuse. Adequate arrangements must be made for business refuse disposal. 3. The Planning Department has not received any complaints regarding operation of this home occupation.
