RE: WPCA Application -986 Pleasant Valley Road, Chris Davis
I have reviewed the application plan to connect the property at 986 Pleasant Valley
Road to the sanitary sewer and I have the following comments:
1. The plans need to be signed and stamped by a Professional Engineer licensed in
Connecticut.
2. The existing 2 inch force main should be extended along the front of the property
at 986 Pleasant Valley Road to the eastern end so other properties to the east
(such as # 994, #993, #1007, and #1015) can also connect to this force main in
the future: The 1-1/2 inch force main from the house can then connect to the 2"
force main by the road.
3. A new clean-out should be installed at the new end of the 2"force main in front of
#986: — — - —
4. The proposed force main shall be installed at least 4 feet below ground.
5. Show the location of the water service from the house at#986, #980 and #994 to
either the water main in the road or a well on site. Verify that the required
separation distance between the proposed sewer lateral and the water lines or
wells in this area are met.
6. The Engineer shall verify that the pump specified is sized properly for the sewage
flows and total dynamic head required for this property and the force main.
7. The gravity Line from the house to the pump station should be 6"diameter.
8. Include an isolation ball valve and check valve on the force main between the
pump and 2"force main in the street.
9. A float system to control the pump with on, off and high alarm floats needs to be
included.
10.The force main shall be pressure tested in accordance with the SW Public
Improvement Specifications after it has been installed.
11.The sewer pump and controller shall be wired to an outside receptacle and
transfer switch so they can be operated by an emergency generator if necessary.
12. Provide a copy of the agreement with the owners of the 2" force main that allows
the property at 986 Pleasant Valley Road to connect to this force main.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
