Approval to use two private meters
Dear Mr. Abbate:
The South Windsor Water Pollution Control Authority, at its regular meeting of February
7, 2012, approved the use of two private water meters for the lawn sprinkler system at
The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk on Buckland Road, South Windsor, CT, which
may be used to measure the amount of the water that is not discharged to the sewer. This
figure will be subtracted from the water company's consumption report to indirectly
measure the sewer discharge and will serve as the basis for calculating a sewer user
charge, and is subject to the following conditions:
1. The two meters installed must meet all Town regulations and appropriate
technical specifications relating to sanitary sewer construction.
2. The applicant needs to read these meters not less than once a month, maintain a
log of meter readings, have the meters maintained, and make sure they are
accurately recording flow.
3. Following reasonable notice, the applicant shall allow the Town staff to inspect
meter log and check that the meters are in good operating order.
4. The applicant shall submit to the Town in January 31" of each year a written
meter report on company letterhead for the proceeding calendar year.
This approval letter must be superimposed on the final approval plans.

Dear Mr. Shaw,
The letter is to formally request approval for our two (2) private meters that measure water
consumed via our irrigation system at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.
Our irrigation system discharges water into the ground and not into the sewer, therefore we
respectfully request credit to our Sewer Use bill.
