In summation the activities generating washwater involve the bathing of companion animals using both regular shampoo and flea/tick shampoo. Flea and tick dips are not conducted, Washwater is strained for the removal of hair and gross solids as part of normal operation and collected in two 50 gallon containers for removal. Waggin Your Way operates out of a home that does not have access to sanitary sewer. The expense of conducting a sanitary survey of their own septic system, which would be required by the Health Department for on-site disposal,is not currently economically feasible. This washwater is analogous to domestic sewage and must be disposed of accordingly. Without access to a sanitary sewer hookup,I have directed Nadine LaCombe to discharge the wastewater at the WPCF if arrangements can be made through your office_ No additional DEP permits would be required for this discharge as this water is to be considered domestic sewage. Hair and other solids collected in drain screens will be discarded as normal household trash.
