Map A Flood Insurance Rate Map B Drainage Area Map C 1. Summary Nomad Adventure Quest is proposing to construct a paved driveway at their 100 Bidwell Road facility. The driveway will serve ingress traffic that enters their site from southbound Route 5 (John Fitch Boulevard). In order to provide safe mobility to the new driveway, a deceleration lane is proposed as a widened cross section to Route 5. Refer to the Driveway Plans for proposed layout. Under existing conditions runoff from southbound Route 5 sheet flows off the pavement and migrates overland onto private property. The surficial characteristics of the ground accommodating the overland flow can best be described as a sparse grass cover. The flow enters into one of three areas as follows: • Existing detention basin located north of proposed driveway • Existing detention basin located south of proposed driveway • Double grate catchbasin owned by the Town of South Windsor The north detention basin is hydraulically connected to the south detention basin by a 24" culvert. Ultimately, the detention basins drain into the double grate catchbasin, and flow subsequently is directed north. Under proposed conditions, the storm drainage patterns described above will remain relatively the same. The Route 5 widening and proposed driveway will introduce approximately 7,000 square feet of impervious area. Refer to the Drainage Area Map included as Appendix C. As part of this storm drainage summary, an excerpt from a U.S. Geological Survey map and a FEMA flood insurance rate map is included as Appendices A and B respectively.
