All rights reserved. http://host.appgeo.com/SouthWindsorCT/AbuttersList.aspx 4/13/2009 DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF NEVERS ROAD PROJECT The drainage improvements proposed as part of the Nevers Road Reconstruction Project include replacement of existing storm sewers on Nevers Road from Miller Road down to Lake Street, along with the construction of a sedimentation basin at the outfall of the storm sewer system at the intersection of Ayers and Nevers Road at the Larry Duprey Field Complex. The proposed sedimentation basin would replace an existing drainage ditch which conveys stormwater from the outfall to twin 18 inch existing culverts which cross under Ayers Road and discharge to an existing pond on the south side of the road. These existing culverts will be replaced with a new 36 inch reinforced concrete pipe culvert and concrete headwall. The sedimentation basin has been designed to enhance storm water quality treatment by trapping sediment and has an approximate storage volume of 2,500 cubic feet. The basin will be approximately 5 feet deep at it's lowest point with side slopes of 4:1 for ease of maintenance. In addition to construction of the sedimentation basin, an existing bituminous concrete leak-off channel will be replaced with a grass-lined swale to convey runoff from the existing parking lot to the north. The amount of regulated area disturbance related to these proposed drainage improvements is approximately 4,060 square feet and involves excavating an area adjacent to and filling a portion of the existing drainage ditch. The primary function of the existing drainage ditch is to convey stormwater and this will be replaced with the sedimentation basin. The area of wetlands associated with the drainage ditch that will be disturbed is 540 square feet. The area of new wetlands associated with the proposed sedimentation basin that will be created is 2,027 square feet. It is anticipated that the time to construct the new sedimentation basin and associated drainage work will be approximately 2 weeks.
