The 7-foot deep structure is being requested in order to facilitate movement of my mother who uses a walker and wheelchair as well as other chairs that will be placed on the porch. With the 7-foot plan, we are 26 inches over the current zoning constraints on the left front of our home only. We are well within the 20-foot offset/frontage requirements on the right front of our home. As you might understand, this slight variance is requested in order to insure the proper and easy access and use of the planned structure. The variance is required to support the proper placement of footings that will support the structure. Dear Mr. & Mrs. Prague: At the meeting of the South Windsor Zoning Board of Appeals held on September 16, 1998, the Board approved your request for a 2' 6" variance to Section 10.2 to allow a porch to be 47' 6" from the property line at property located at 60 Krawski Drive, AA-30 Zone. The Board concluded the hardship to be that the unusual curve of the property makes it impossible to construct the porch in the proposed area without a variance. The Board also wanted it noted that there would be someone in the household that will need this size of a porch for access with a wheelchair and a walker. Any new building, or alteration/additions to existing buildings, require a building permit prior to start of construction. These actions are effective upon your filing the enclosed form in the Town Clerk's Office at your own expense.
