RE: Site Plans for Connecticut Driveshaft Co., Inc.
South Windsor
On April 2, 1986, a site visit was made to review a proposed development
located on US Rte 5 in South Windsor between Strong Road and Glendale Road.
Site plans, dated 3/5/86 were also reviewed. The purpose of the review was to
determine the most appropriate siting of a drainageway that flows from Route 5
across the property in a western direction.-
Existing Situation
A 30 inch CMP is outletted from Route onto the property. Presently the CMP Is
blocked with debris for the most part. A 3 to 4 foot open ditch picks up water
from the CMP and flows across the property towards the west.
The present road drainage system would be greatly improved by upgrading the
whole system. Considerations in upgrading the system should include: improved
road drainage; improved safety along road; improved maintenance of road and
drainage system; aesthetics.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Replace the existing open ditch with CMP or RCP as dictated by town
engineer. Size of pipe would depend upon town requirements.
- Suggest a surface inlet be installed on Route 5 shoulder to facilitate
intake of road surface water.
- Continue the pipe to proposed culvert crossing of driveway. Install a
plunge pool at this outlet.
- An Erosion and Sediment Control Plan should be developed for this site
that includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Construction and control measure sequence
- Seeding recommendation
- Construction entrance pad and detail
Details of plunge pool , ditch and other control measures
Retention basin details

RE: Site Plan Review
Connecticut Driveshaft
South Windsor CT 06074
On April 2, 1986 a site visit was made to review plans for "Connecticut
Driveshaft" on Route 5 in South Windsor, CT. Site plans, dated 4/3/86 and
4/15/86, were reviewed. This review is supplemental to an earlier review from
this office dated 4/8/86.
The Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan overall appears correct and should
adequately address site needs. The following comments are offered and should
be Incorporated into the plans.
Comments
-- Remove those details on sheet X.2 that no longer pertain to Erosion
and Sediment Control plan ( ie. details E and F).
-- Remove Erosion and Sediment Note 2 and Note 17 from the plans (sheet
X.2).
-- Indicate in Note 4 on sheet X.2 who will be responsible for approval
of disposing of "'bulky wastes".
-- In Note 6 on sheet X.2 eliminate portion of statement that indicates
any "bulky waste" will be included in fill material .
-- In Note 10 and Note 15 on sheet X.2 where on sheet X.4 dates for
seeding can be found.
-- Note 14 on sheet X.2 should state that the stone tracking pad J.&
required and show location on site plan.
- In Note 16 reword sentence to read "if time restraints become limited
then sod will be used in lieu of permanent seeding."

RE: Connecticut Driveshaft Building in South Windsor
Dear Mr. Honek:
I took the liberty of asking Mitchell Excavating to not do any
more digging on the site until the conditions of approval imposed
by Planning and Zoning Commission have been complied with such as :
#5 prior to commencement of site work, a meeting must be held with
Town Staff.
Considering the cooperation of the designers and the effort that
went into the proposal, this excavation work seemed inconsistent
with our past exposure to this site.
A pre-job meeting has been scheduled for 6/23/86 at 9: 00 at the
Town Hall.

RE: South Windsor Site
Dear Mr. Honek:
Within the past week, we have been contacted by your abutter to the
north, Mr. Peter Winton, concerning storm water run-off from his land
into yours. It is my understanding that a pipe is proposed. He has
contacted the excavator to have it done reasonably soon.
From the Town' s point of view, it is a good proposal in that it provides
a logical outlet for the surface drainage and the timing is appropriate.
If you have any questions , I can be contacted at 644-2511 Ext. 244.
