Re: Request to operate home baking business at 17 Heron Nest.
Dear Ms. McKelvie,
The Executive Board has reviewed your request, dated 6/7/99, to operate a business involving

1) You comply with all local, state and federal ordinances and laws governing the operation of
a business, including obtaining necessary permits, licensing, or other documentation.
2) The business is in operation only during a 3-month, trial period starting 7/l/99 and ending
9/30/99.
3) Should the Board receive reasonable, written complaints about the operation of your
business, you agree to cease operation within two weeks of the Board's notification to you.
4) No more than five deliveries via UPS,Federal Express, etc. are made to your address
weekly.
5) No on-street parking occurs as a result of your business.
6) No signage or other advertising medium is used on Lakewood property, including your
Unit and Limited Common Elements at 17 Heron Nest.

Limited Common Elements allocated to 17 Heron Nest.
8) Business associates comply with all Lakewood's Rules and Regulations, particularly our

Re: Request to operate home translation/interpretation business at 17 Heron Nest.
During the final month of your trial operation, you may apply to the Board for approval to extend
operating time frames. Upon receipt of your request, the Board will review its assessment of
your business'impact on our community. If the Board considers impact to be minimal, and if no
reasonable, written complaints were received during your trial period, the Board may grant an
operating extension for up to twelve months. At the end of each twelve month period, you may
request an additional extension, and the Board, at its discretion, may grant the extension.
This request, review, and approval/disapproval process may seem cumbersome, but experience
tells us little in the entrepreneurial world remains constant. The business you operate next month
will little resemble the business you operate in just a few years. Because Lakewood is first and
foremost an association of private residences, the Board is obligated to ensure private ventures
do not upset the ambiance we strive to maintain.
That said, the Board is happy to be of service to you, and we wish you much success in your
exciting endeavor.
Sincerely,
yyi07,6LV

Attention:Gerald Bender,Lakewood Property Manager
Dear Gerald:
As a follow-up to our conversation concerning a home business at Lakewood,I am providing this written
formal request you require for the Lakewood board of directors consideration/approval of a home business
operation at Lakewood.
I have recently embarked upon a second career in culinary arts and graduated from the CT Culinary
Institute on May 30, 1999. I would like to produce a small volume of baked goods from my home for
wholesale to local restaurants&specialty shops, and some wedding cakes for direct retail. I will comply
with all Lakewood, town, and state health code regulations concerning this business.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I can be reached at 528-2309.
Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Ms. McKelvie Mutty:
A permit for a second commercial oven and other improvements for a baking
operation can not be issued at this time without a statement of intent for the
use of this equipment.
This determination is based on information received from the Planning
department regarding approvals for a home occupation for the purpose of
baking out of your residence.
Very truly yours,
John R. Collins
