Dear Becky:
The inland wetland boundaries on the above-referenced property were field
delineated on November 17,2004. The wetlands were field delineated in accordance with
the standards of the National Cooperative Soil Survey and the definition of wetlands as
found in the Connecticut General Statutes,Chapter 440,Section 22A-38. I have reviewed
the plans prepared by your office and have found the representation of the field delineated
wetlands to be substantially correct.
The wetland soils on the property were identified as belonging to the poorly drained
Rippowam Series and the very poorly drained Saco Series. Both of these wetland soils are
associated with the flood plain of the Connecticut River. The wetlands are forested with
mixed hardwood species. Active zones of seepage were noted at the edge of the wetland
boundaries.
The upland soils were identified as belonging to the well drained Agawam Series.
These soils consist of sandy to loamy glaciofluvial deposits. The uplands are currently used
as pasture land.
The short but steep slopes leading from the uplands to the wetlands are also forested
with mixed hardwood species.
If you have any questions,or require additional information, please call me at(
742-5868.
Very truly yours,
