Folger—Environmental Planner/Conservation Officer Date: August 23, 2000 Re: Review of the proposed Ranco industrial site, Plans dated 10/16/00. The project is to construct a 5,100 sqft industrial building on 1.08 acres located at Commerce Way. No regulated areas are located onsite. Site: The site is located in the Scantic River watershed. The parcel is comprised of 1 acre. Currently the site is 50% open and 50% early successional forested. Stormwater is planned to be controlled by shedding runoff toward the north to two catchbasins where it will discharge to the established detention basin that serves the whole development. Impacts: Proposed erosion controls consist of perimeter controls, and an anti-tracking pad. Due to the nature of the site, flat and sandy, the proposed erosion controls appear to be adequate. The catchbasins shown on the plans should have 4' sumps and trap hoods. . % SOviPcowA\Ss\o. \GN G STORM DRAINAGE ANALYSIS FOR RANCO COLLISION REPAIR COMMERCE WAY, SOUTH WINDSOR PREPARED BY.• BASCOMIMAGNOITA, INC. SURVEYING AND ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS 360 MAIN STREET DURHAM, CT 06422 SEPTEMBER, 2000 BA SCOM/MAGNOTTA,IN c. 7 Project Narrative The project proposes to build a 5100 SF building on a 1 acre site with related parking and drainage. Design Criteria The design of the stormwater drainage system utilizes the rational method to determine the stormwater runoff rates. A 10-year rainfall rate for the New Haven area was used to design the drainage system. Runoff coefficient "C" and time of concentration "To" were determined using an overland flow nomograph and charts used by the Connecticut Department of Transportation in their drainage manual. The length of flow was determined from the hydraulically most distant point from the catch basin or structure. Both the hydraulic and inlet capacities were determined as part of this analysis. A gutter flow analysis using HEC-12 was performed on the two basins located in the entrance driveway. The analysis results are attached herewith. BA SCOM/MAGNOTTA,INC.
