Dear Jeff,
I have attached a report from Bartlett tree experts regarding their opinion as to the
health and worth of the trees that are on the Savings Bank of Rockville site near the
border with Tolland Bank. After I toured the site with him,I was informed that the
tree roots had been severed by the electrician working on the Tolland Bank project
which would make his projection of a dieing tree more likely.
In accordance with this report and the desire to eliminate a safety hazard, I am
taking steps to have the trees removed and follow up with new plantings to an
approved planting plan.
Sincerely yours,

Dear Mr. Jeamel:
I inspected the two silver maples and boxelder in the proposed area of the bank.
These are large trees that have received considerable root damage during
construction. Root decay and crown decline will follow construction and in a
short period of time, 5-10 years this may present a potential hazard. It is therefore
-my recommendation to remove these trees. The question is how much risk are
you or the bank willing to accept in the future.
Replacement recommendations are as follows:
- river birch
- fringe tree
Cornelian cherry
- ginkgo
- callery pear

Re: Internal Walkways
Several weeks ago, I wrote to all of your regarding an internal walkway connecting your
respective businesses. The responses from all of you indicated that you agree that an
internal walkway would be beneficial to your clients and residents, allowing customers to
easily walk among your facilities. The Planning and Zoning Commission was
encouraged by your positive responses.
The Commission is most anxious to see the internal walkway become a reality. To
facilitate the sidewalk implementation, Town staff has agreed to host a meeting of all of
you so that the walkway concept can be defined. We would like to have the meeting on
Wednesday,November 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sprenkel Room at Town Hall. As this is
an important project, please make every effort to attend or send a representative who can
speak for your organization.
Please call the Planning Department at 644-2511, ext. 253 to confirm your attendance at
this meeting. Once again, thank you for all your cooperation.
