Re: Sazinski Application - Strong Road, South Windsor
Dear Mr. DeMallie:
We are writing to you to express our concern regarding the proposed layout of a
single family home on the abutting parcel to the west side of our property at 643
Strong Road. We understand that the plot plan as designed shows the
proposed home layout in conformance with both yard and wetland setbacks.
However, we are very concerned with the proposed distance between the two
homes and the disturbance of numerous large trees greater than 18" in diameter
to accommodate the foundation and grading of the proposed home.
In consideration of our residence which is less than 10' from the property line to
the west, and a total separation between the homes of 27' +/- we are requesting
that serious consideration be made to move the proposed home further to the
west and somewhat into the 40' wetlands buffer area. By shifting the proposed
home at least 20' - 30' further west the numerous large trees will be preserved
and allow for a natural buffer between the two residences.
The Strong Road community upholds a sense of segregated single family homes
with minimal disturbance to the surrounding natural environment and corridor
used by a variety of wildlife in the area. In the spirit and nature of this
environment we ask that you consider the application of a modified wetlands
permit to shift the proposed home into the wetlands buffer subsequent to the
general Town Commission approval being sought on Wednesday, October 20,
1999.
We appreciate your assistance in discussing this matter to date and would
appreciate being kept informed of the proposed development. If there is
anything else we can do to assist in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact
us.
Very Truly Yours,
Karl C. & Deborah Denf Id

RE: ELIZABETH WOLE SAZINSKI
STRONG ROAD
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT
Dear Susan:
The inland wetland boundaries on the above-referenced property were field
delineated on June 15, 1999. The wetlands were field delineated in accordance with the
standards of the National Cooperative Soil Survey and the definition of wetlands as found
in the Connecticut General Statutes, Chapter 440, Section 22A-38. I have reviewed the
plans prepared by your office (dated 8-20-99) and have found the representation of the
field delineated wetlands to be substantially correct.
The wetland delineation should be extended to the easterly property line. A well
defined open ditch clearly defines the limit of the wetlands in this area. The property line
was inadvertently judged to be the edge of the woods.
The property is forested with mixed hardwood species and a thick shrub layer. The
upland soils were identified as belonging to the moderately well drained Ninigret Series.
The wetland soils were identifies as belonging to the poorly drained Walpole Series.
