GALIK FRAMING MAJOR HOME OCCUPATION
1. Request for a 5-year approval for a major home occupation under
Section 4.8 to A picture framing business on property located at 2650
Ellington Road, RR zone.
a. The reason for requiring PZC approval is to ensure that:
• The home occupation is clearly secondary to the use of the
building for dwelling purposes;
• the home occupation is compatible with other permitted residential
uses in the residential district;
• the residential character of the dwelling and the neighborhood are
maintained and preserved; and
• all residents have freedom from excessive noise, excessive traffic,
nuisances, fire hazards, offensive odors and pollutants, and other
possible effects of commercial uses being conducted in residential
areas.
3. Performance criteria that must be met include:
• Maximum of 25% of the floor area can be used for the occupation;
• Occupation cannot be visible from the outside of the dwelling
unit;
• No entrance or exit may be added solely for the occupation;
• no more than one non-resident employee is allowed;
• the occupation cannot create a volume of passenger or commercial
traffic that is inconsistent with the normal level of traffic on the
street
• all parking needs must be met on site
• and the Commission may require screening of additional parking
from the street and from adjacent residential properties.

occupation with respect to square footage. The business is proposed to
be conducted out of the walkout basement (which has a separate entrance
in the rear of the house and will encompass approximately to square
feet.,

9. If this application is approved, the applicant will complete a home
occupation permit form, which contains an acknowledgment that the
applicant will abide by the criteria contained in the zoning regulations.
The applicant would also be required to return to this Commission upon
expiration of the 5-year permit period.
There are no planning or engineering modifications requested.

This is a reminder that the Major Home Occupation to allow a picture framing business at
property located at 2650 Ellington Road, will expire December 14, 2004
If you plan to extend your permit beyond the above expiration date, you must apply for an
extension at least sixty-five (65) days prior to the expiration date. There will be a ninety-five
dollar ($95.00) fee required for an extension of the permit. This includes a thirty dollar
($30.00) surcharge assessed by the State, to fund the State Environmental Review Team.

1999 to approve with conditions the above-referenced application fora 5-year Major Home
Occupation permit to operate a picture framing business. This approval is subject to the
following conditions:

Dear Mr. Gawlik:
We are pleased to advise you that the Planning&Zoning Commission voted on December 14,
1999 to approve with conditions the above-referenced application for a 5-year Major Home
Occupation permit to operate a picture framing business. This approval is subject to the
following conditions:
1. Hours of operation are to be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and 5 -9 p.m. Monday through
Friday.
2. Customers are to be by appointment only.
3. The size of the sign should conform to regulations and cannot be illuminated.
4. This permit will expire on December 14, 2004.
Please have the enclosed Home Occupation Form completed and return it to the Planning
Department for approval.
