Thompson ' 488 Strong Road ; South Windsor, CT 06074 Home Phone 860-282-1090 NOY 13 1997 November 13, 1997 South Windsor Planning & Zoning Commission Town of South Windsor Michele M.R.Lipe, AICP Assistant Director of Planning 1540 Sullivan Avenue South Windsor, CT 06074 Dear Michele, As you are already aware,we went before the zoning board on Tuesday,October 28, 1997 to request town approval for a 5 year major home occupation, for a tool sharpening business named Ace Cutter. The board tabled a decision for Tuesday,November 18 at 7:30pm pending a noise measurement reading as a result of the concerns of our neighbors. Due to the neighbors concerns we would like to change our request from a 5 year to a 1 year major home occupation to ensure that there is no negative impact to our neighborhood. As proposed to the zoning board on October 28,Ace Cutter will meet all the criteria outlined for a major home occupation as follows: - It will be the only home occupation at 488 Strong Road. - It will be a secondary use of our home, conducting business only part-time evenings and weekends no later than 8:OOpm in the evening and no more than 20 hours per week. - There will be no additional employees other than the owner/occupants of the business. - We request the business be located in one third of our attached garage approximately 260 square feet, leaving storage for not only one but 2 additional vehicles. - The business will ultimately consist of three machines 3x3x4 feet tall. - We guarantee to residents the noise generated from the machines can be compared to less than that of a table saw and taking into consideration the location of the machines and the distance to our neighbors it is unlikely they will hear anything at all. - Ace Cutter will have no retail or wholesale/mail-order sales which would generate truck deliveries with the exception for parcel services such as UPS. - There will be no business associated vehicles or out door storage required for a business vehicle. - There will be no entrance or exit added solely for the conduct of the home occupation. - Since we are providing a service,we will be picking up and dropping off all services performed on site, therefore generating no additional traffic to the neighborhood. - There will be no storage of hazardous materials other than normal household materials. - We guarantee to all residents there will be no fire hazards, offensive odors and pollutants. - The home occupation will not cause interference with radio or television reception in the vicinity. - All appropriate State and Federal licenses will be obtained. - Business will be conducted solely in the garage, displaying no sign and no activity will be visible from the outside. As a result of all of the above,we guarantee there will be no change to the residential character of our dwelling or to our neighborhood.
