ZBA APPLICATION
RELOCATION OF HOUSE
176 SMITH STREET
We propose to relocate the house to the west, in order to
a) . Move it farther away from Smith Street and b) . To accommodate a
future subdivision street. We applied for and received a zone
change to A-20 on September 3 , 1991 . The site is just under 12
acres . Our layout requires a street opposite Wheeler Road. The
present house at 176 Smith Street is non-conforming to the front
yard set back (23 ft) , and will be in the new public right-of-way,
necessitating its relocation. Our hardships and exceptional
difficulties are; 1) . There is no alternate for the street; 2) . The
house is historic (c. 1894) , and should remain on the same lot as
the old horse barn/dance hall (presently w/ other uses) ; 3) . The
house will become more conforming to front yard setback (5 feet
Variance vs . present 17 feet) ; The house septic would be connected
to the public sewer; 5) . Zone change already granted; 6) . Our
architect has designed the house modifications , including
attachment to the horse barn; 7 ) . the ultimate building will be
more attractive than the present structures .
