Our house at 129 and 131 Ide/`t Road was built in 1914. This
predated zoning, Ident Road, and the surrounding lots. It was
built as, and cu,rcntly is, a o/'r-family dwelling, it was
converted to a Lwo-family dwelling we believe sometime in the
1950s and romainod so unLil the lafo 1980s. Thus the two

on ihe land ( i . p. , the street side its not the front of the
houso, but raLhor the side) . In addition, there was a timo

According io ihc town rodc, as stated earlier, the front is

housc. Code requires 51 feot he mai /dained between the
structure and the proper\y ] inow. !he house is current! y
approximaLely 35 foot from the property ] inc, thus in
violation of code. We believe that Um West side is ihe only
AMP side for a screened-in porch and that a variance should
be nranted fc'r the following reasons:
1 . Building off Phu East side would result in an excepijonally
large and poLential ] y unsightly structore since this is the
side on which we must build on attached two-car garage.
2. Buildi /u/ off Lhe East sjde would also result in encroaching

4. T|'ere are sma] l and Toy tin trees beLween our house and our

RE: ZBA Application #2159-93: David & Brenda Gothers
129/131 Ident Road
Dear Mr . and Mrs . Gothers :
At the meeting. of the Zoning Board of Appeals held on October 7 ,
1993, your request for a 30 ft. variance to Section 10 . 2 of the
zoning regulations to the rear yard for a screen-in porch to be
20 ft. from property line (50 ft. required) and 5 ft . variance to
the side yard to allow a 2-car garage 15 ft . from property line
(20 ft. required) '. at 129 and 131 Ident Road, A-40 Zone, was
approved .
The -Board noted the hardship with this appeal to be that the
house was constructed in 1914, prior to adoption of the Zoning
Regulations , on a then different road than it presently fronts .
This action is effective October 7, 1993 and upon your filing of
the enclosed form in- the Town Clerk's office at your own expense.
Very truly yours,
Robert W. Warren, Chairman
Zoning Board of Appeals
