It is cost prohibitive for us to buy land and build here in S. W_ due tn the financial condition and size of our congregation. We have few alternatives in renting space for 'Public Assembly' . Moving to 'Town Center' would in a more strategic location in the community where townspeople come and go on a daily basis. In other words we would like to be where towns people are, at the center of things. It would also be a newer building, thus more cost efficient and more usable space. We believe moving to this now location Will enhance our idenity to towns people and overall increase our potential for growth and ministry here in S. Windsor. Guy Thompson (203)644-42" Pastor December 9, 1992 Town of South Windsor Zoning Board of Appeals 1540 Sullivan Ave. S. Windsor, CT 06074 re. ZBA Application for Alliance Christian Fellowship To Whom It May Concern: Our lease is about up where we are meeting at the present time and after investigating our alternatives we would like to consider space at Town Center, 1735 Ellington Road in S. Windsor. We have been comfortable where we are but would like to move out of an Industrial area into a more people centered area. The space offered at Town Center would afford us a place central in town and put us in the hub of towns people activity. The space, at present, is undeveloped but being considered is a multi-purpose room for worship and other church related activity, approximately 1500 Sq. Ft. 6 class rooms, 3 offices and two bathrooms. The layout and exact square footage has not been completely settled upon but would certainly be constructed to meet building code for public assembly use. At present we would have between 50 - 75 normally meeting at our main service on Sunday but the space would also enable us to expand in the future as needed. Our intention is to further our stability and identidy in town as a local church ministry to the people of S. Windsor and the surrounding area. We have been in town now, for almost five years and are committed to establishing our roots here in this growing community. Thank you for considering our request. We look forward to working with you now and in the future as we seek, someday,to purchase land and build our own facility. We are glad to be a part of this fine community. Sincerely Yours, Rev. Liquor outlets within 500 feet To Whom It May Concern: In making application to rent space at Town Center, Alliance Christian Fellowship is aware that'Town Center Wines and Spirits', (Liquor License)and'South Windsor Pizza', (Beer/Wine License)are within 500 feet of where we would meet, if approved. We acknowledge that these are already established businesses. Without making any moral judgement, one way or the other, we would submit, that we are fully aware of the nature of their businesses. We do not want to disrupt or cause any interference for them now or in the future, concerning their licensing or relicensing to do the type of business they presently conduct. 'Town Center Wines& Spirits' is a take out rather than a place where liquor is served and 'South Windsor Pizza' certainly is not a lounge or bar but rather a resturant where there has been no problem,to our knowledge, in these last years, with drunkenness etc. So we are comfortable that we will be moving into an atmosphere that would still be conducive to doing 'church ministry' without any interference or conflict from the surrounding tenants. The reason for denial was that the Board felt that it was inappropriate for a church to be located within a restricted commercial zone that contains the sale and/or consumption of liquor .
