Vern truly yours, Robert W. Warren, Chairperson Zoning Board of Appeals RWW/pmm Fite Bites Eatery Take-Out My restaurant., Lite Bites, is new gourmet eatery and carry-out establishment in the Town Center Plaza. In bringing a new restaurant concept to the Town of South Windsor, I am hoping to not only provide food and service of the highest quality, but also an open-air atmosphere that can be found at many restaurants in neighboring towns, but none here in South Windsor as of yet. Through my past restaurant managerial experience 1 am convinced that the availability of an outdoor dining area, however large or small , is a very attractive draw to the public. While managing the Blacksmith's Tavern, a widely acclaimed restaurant located in Glastonbury, 1 saw first-hand how a clean, comfortable outdoor dining area can consistently draw patrons not only from within town, but from surrounding towns as well. While informally polling some of my regular customers this past week, 1 found that, without exception, they all felt the idea was a wonderful one. I am hoping that the Town of South Windsor will grant me the opportunity to install , through a temporary and conditional permit, approximately 8-10 smal.1 gables on the perimeter of the walkway outside of Lite Bites. The managing representative of the landlord of the property, Kathryn Kelley, has assured me of her support of this proposal, and is convinced, as am I , that there would be no disturbance created for pedestrians, shoppers, or other merchants in the plaza. Litter would not present a problem, as there are already two large waste barrels in the area in which 1 am proposing to situate the tables. In addition, I would have the outdoor area continuously monitored by t.! sh.ne employee t t=at is currently responsible for keeping the indoor dining area of Lite Bites spotless. In conclusion, I am convinced that if' Lite Bites is granted the temporary and conditional permit I am seeking for the warm-weather months, that its patrons will see this step as adding a "touch of class" not only to the restaurant, hnt to the Town of South Windsor as a whole.
