State clearly the particular hardship or unnecessary difficulty that prompts
this application and indicate why other options are unacceptable. (Use a
separate sheet of paper if necessary. )
In order to afford Rroper vehicular maneuvering, and proper utilization of
the existing firehouse and curb cuts, the proposed addition must be situated
as shown. The addition location, however, will be more than 60, from the
Ellington Road (Route 74) pavement, which is more than adequate. The alternative
of establishing 'a new curb cut on Route 74, would create a traffic safety
hazard (higher vehicular speeds and line-of-sight problems) , especially for
fire apparatus.

Mr. Howard E. Fitts, Chairman
Public Building Commission
1540 Sullivan Avenue
South Windsor, CT 06074
Dear Mr. Fitts:
The Public Building Commission's application to the South Windsor Zoning
Board of Appeals requesting a variance to Section 5.2 of the Zoning
Regulations to allow a building addition within the required front vard
(30 foot variance) at property located at the northeast corner of the
intersection of Route 74 and Foster Street, South Windsor, has been
granted.
In granting this variance the Board noted that this intersection has
been changed, and the addition is over 60 feet from the black top
even though it is encroaching on the building line. If the building
line were redrawn to conform to the revised road, the building would
be in compliance. In addition, the front yard building line requirement
imposed by both streets constitutes a hardship.
This action is effective March 22, 1985 and upon your filing the enclosed
form in the Town Clerk's Office.
Very truly yours,
Thomas Murrin, Chairman
Zoning Board of Appeals
