- The application and supplements must be filed in duplicate.
- The application must be typewriter or printed in ink.
- A Class D or better survey of the property in question must be submitted with the application,
showing streets, lot lines, building lines, zone boundary lines, dimensions, and buildings
present or proposed, and buildings on adjacent properties and distance from subject property
- If a variance is being requested, a legal description of the property must be submitted with
the application. This description can be obtained from mortgage records.
- The sign purchased from the Planning Department must be displayed on the property at least
10 days prior to the public hearing in a location visible from all public streets.
- The applicant, or a representative, must be present for the public hearing. The time, date and
place of the hearing will be advised by mail.
- Inquiries on..this application may be directed to the Planning Department at the South Windsor
Town Hall.

It is our intention to utilize this building in a manner which financially
will allow it to remain an attractive reminder of South Windsor's past.
It has historically been a center of activity since its construction in
approximately 1725. Home, grocery store and post office, in varying
combinations has been its purpose.
It is generally agreed that the Post Office is one of the ten oldest in
America and definitely a piece of history which deserves preserving. It
is also a fact that financially, the postal department would be better
served without it.
With the above in mind, you can realize the reluctance that exists to raise
the rent into current market values.
It has, therefore, been our desire to operate The Giving Tree Book, Card
and Gift Shop in conjunction with the Post Office to achieve the financial
success required to maintain this part of South Windsor's history.
We have operated this building with The Giving Tree for two years, and
feel we have complete support of our neighbors.

Your application to the South Windsor Zoning Board of Appeals
will be heard at a public hearing on Thursday, January 2, 1986
at 7: 30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the South Windsor Town
Hall, 1540 Sullivan Avenue , South Windsor. Someone must be
present at the hearing to represent the application.
The sign which you have in your possession must be displayed on
the property at least 10 days prior to the public hearing in a
location visible from all public streets . In addition, there is
a $30 . application fee. Please submit this no later than the
night of the hearing.

grant renewal of a two-year temporary and conditional permit to operate a book
and gift shop in the East Windsor Hill Post Office Building located at 1865 Main
Street, East Windsor Hill (A-40 Zone) .
All previous conditions of approval shall remain in full force and effect. This
action is effective January 17, 1986.
