For the past six years, I have owned the Giving Tree,
a book, card and gift shop in the old Bossen Store
building on Main Street. The stock is generally books
concerning New England, cooking, gardening, and children' s
titles, as well as fine crafts and quality paper items.
It is my feeling that a Main Street store location lends
credence to the fact that my interest is to have a low
key shop, where I can offer people a quiet place to browse.
The Bossen store area will be unavailable to me after
January 1, 1984 , and I therefore, wish to have permission
to utilize the office area of the East Windsor Hill Post
Office building for the Giving Tree.
As with prior requests to the Zoning Board of Appeals, I wish
to have a temporary and conditional permit, which will allow
you or the neighbors the opportunity to discontinue this
store if it is ever deemed not to be in concert with the
neighborhood.
Since 1725 this building has continued to be a meeting place
as a Post Office, store and home, and I sincerely feel it can
continue as such and maintain its attractiveness to the town.
