RE: Application #89-14P - 571 Nutmeg Road North, South Windsor
Dear Madam/Sir:
At the April 17 , 1989 meeting of the South Windsor Inland Wetlands
Agency/Conservation Commission, the Commission voted to deny without
prejudice, Application #89-14P. You may re-apply at any time taking
into consideration the concerns expressed by the Agency.
The concerns expressed by the Agency are:

area.
2 . Concern about amount of disturbance and filling on bank of
Stoughton Brook.
Very truly yours,
John M. Moran, Jr. airman

DEPARTMENT REVIEW COMMENTS
Key Map _
- Must show layout of existing and proposed buildings and
parking areas
- Direction of sanitary sewerage flow should be shown
- Driveway cuts on surrounding properties should be shown
Plot Plan/Topographic Map
- It appears that the sheet labeled site development plan
is intended to satisfy the requirements for plot plan and
topographic map; should be labeled as such if this is so
- A-2 certification required per State statutes and state
licensing board
- Parking formula should also reflect square footage of
office space, if any.
- Is there a defined area nor the SNET easement shown on
the west side of the property?
- Is a dumpster required?

FROM: Jerry C. Iazzetta, Town Engineer
RE: Gerber Scientific Products - #89-14P
The Engineering Department has reviewed the drawings dated December
1988, Sheets SC-1 to SC-7 and the Storm Drainage Calculations and
have the following comments:
1 . The Storm Drainage Calculations state that the "Total Area to
Stoughton Brook = 2 . 52 AC. " We believe that this is not
correct. It appears that over 5 acres of this parcel plus
additional areas discharge into Stoughton Brook. This needs
to be evaluated further by the design engineer as his entire
calculations are based upon this fact.
2 . The releasing of a large part of the storm water from this
site directly into the brook needs to be evaluated both from
zero increase standpoint and what the impact will be on the
abutting Waldo property.
3 . Sheet SC-1 is not an A-2 survey. Dimensions from existing
building to property lines are shown + or -. (This could be
critical because of the closeness of the proposed building to
the building line setback) .
4 . The Fire Marshal should evaluate the 30 foot radius cul-de-
sac area of the parking lot.
5 . Sheet SC-4 indicates "Written permission for grading off site
(by owner) " on the westerly side of this parcel. The
permission should be submitted to the Planning & Zoning
Commission before approval and/or should appear on these
drawings .
6 . Sheet SC-4 shows grading outside of the "Contract
Construction Limit" delineation. This should be corrected.
Also slope rights or temporary easement must be obtained from
the abutter so that this work can be accomplished.
Marcia A. Banach
April 11, 1989
Re: Gerber - #89-114P
7 . A spot elevation is needed in the Southwest corner of the new
pavement area.
8 . The two concrete pads on the north side of the building are
shown with a 2'-2 1/2, drop to grade.
9 . Sheet SC-7 shows detail of storm sewer. Town requires a
minimum of 6" of crushed stone under the pipe.
10 . Sheet SC-7 shows detail of pavement section. We require a
minimum of 6" compacted processed aggregate for base course.
11 . Please have engineer verify that "modified" riprap is
appropriate for velocities that will be encountered.

Dear Marcia:
We regretfully *MdfA our application from review and the
tentative hearing scheduled for April 25th.
With the Inland Wetlands Agency/Conservation Commission vote of
April 17th to deny application without prejudice, we are
presently revising the drawings and application to accommodate
their wishes. At the same time we will also incorporate staff
comments on the Engineering and Planning Department review.
It is hoped that the submitted fee will be retained and used for
the new application forthcoming. If this is not the case,
please inform us of the situation.
Sincerely,
