Grace May 22, 1976 Dear Sir: This concerns a water line proposed to be constructed on Newberry Road in South Windsor by the Metropolitan District.. A hearing was held recently on this_ propos-alp but we were not notified of any decision. We however observed stakes which appear to indicate that construction of this line is, planned along the north side of Newberry Rd. We presently are served by our own water line which runs along the north side of New- berry Rd,. We have no objection to a new line being constructed on the south side of Newberry Road to provide service to area not now, supplied , but we do object to construction on the north side of Newberry Road where it could and probably would inter - fere with our present water line. Respect.-fully submitted: Prope*ty Owner Address J Memorandum June 3, 1976 To: Buck Page From: Mel Stead Re: Milkie Subdivision - Newberry Rd. near Rt. 5 A preliminary review of the proposed subdivision indicates three basic problem areas. 1. The present street line in this area is 33 feet. The final plans should indicate that a new street line 25 ' from / the center of the existing pavement will be provided. 2. Although a drainage easement to the Town of South Windsor has been provided, a right to drain to the existing brook channel must also be obtained. 3 . Storm water drainage in this area is not adequate and the use of driveways in this area and the change in ground cover and grade will increase the drainage problems already experi- enced in this area. Planning and zoning should consider obtaining down stream storm drainage improvement funds to help remedy this situa- tion. one final comment for consideration is the close proximity of existing sanitary sewers in Rt. 5. The active sewer is approxi- mately 750 feet east of Lot 6. cc: Al Young, Bill Grace ` O'N N S E4 O-P Sou `JN • 1540 SULLIVAN AVENUE . Page, Planning-Coordinator DATE: June 24, 1976 SUBJECT: James Milkie three-lot resubdivision, Newberry Road Attached is a copy of the Planning and Zoning Commission's approval letter for the Milkie Resubdivision located on Newberry Road. The Commission received several letters from residents on Newberry Road requesting that the water main be installed on the south side of Newberry Road. A water line made of plastic was installed years ago on the north side of Newberry Road to service the existing homes. The residents' concern is that any construction activity on the north side would damage the existing plastic main. The Planning and Zoning Commission requested that the Engineering Bureau insure that the new water main is installed on the south side of Newberry Road, as shown on the plans. J. E.
