MEMORANDUM
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
POLLUTION CONTROL DIVISION
TO . Jules E. Page -- Planning Co-Ordinator
FROM : Melvin Edwards, Jr. -- Superintendent of Pollution Control
DATE 26 November, 1974
SUBJECT SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST DAY SCHOOL...FOSTER ROAD, SOUTH WINDSOR
Please be advised that the Pollution Control Division of the Public :corks
Department is in receipt of State Department of Health approval for the proposed
septic field layout on the subject school, and I agree with them completely.
As did the State, I will make the following stipulations concerning this
septic field:
1) Elevations should be specified on the final plan to assure that the leaching
system will not be set too low. Such elevations should be indicated for each
distribution box, the septic tank and the house sewer at the foundation. It may
be necessary to place the finished floor of the building on or above the existing
grade in order to allow gravity flow to the leaching system.
2) Distribution boxes should be placed where the main distribution pipe crosses
eac'_i leaching trench. Also, all leaching trenches should be kept on the same level
and t'_:! ends of the trenches shall be connected with a relief trench as required by
the Public Health Code.
In regards to the proposed dwellings also associated with this sub-division,
please be advised that the percolation testing performed by Megson & Hyyppa on
31 May of this year produced satisfactory results, and are acceptable to me; however,
I would strongly recommend that the above stipulations concerning leaching field
elevations be applied to the dwelling lots.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
