To: Members of the Town Council
I am planning on scheduling a Special Meeting of the Town Council
on August 23, 1979, at 7:30 p.m. , to discuss the following topics:
1. Maskel Road & Garnet Lane Reconstruction
The Town Manager is opening bids for the project on
August 20, 1979, and the Sewer Commission is meeting
on August 21, 1979 to consider funding a portion of the
cost for overlay and curbing. The Town will be asked
to fund the drainage and base costs at that meeting
with the exact amounts to be determined by the competi-
tive bids. The Town Manager will propose a method of
funding for our consideration prior to the agenda being
finalized.
2. Classification and Compensation Plan
The Town Manager has forwarded a synopsis of the recently
completed State Salary Study to all members of the Council
and has requested Council adoption -of the plan prior to
his development of specific salary recommendations for non-
union personnel.
3. Funding of a Planning Study of I-91, I-284, and its Impact
on South Windsor
The Town Manager has requested that the Town Council
appropriate $15, 000 for consulting fees to develop a
Town position on the critical questions facing local
and State policymakers--namely, the widening of I-91 or
some alternate project; i.e. , I-284; along the Connecticut
River Basin.
